SmartViz Shortlisted for Two Prestigious Awards at TechFest 2024!
We are beyond excited to announce that SmartViz has been shortlisted for two categories at TechFest 2024, hosted by New Civil Engineer and Construction News! Our cutting-edge 'digital-twin-in-a-box' solution has earned us a place as finalists in both the Innovation Accelerator and Best Use of Technology categories. These nominations highlight our ongoing efforts to transform the construction and building management industries with innovative, AI-powered solutions that drive sustainability, efficiency, and better outcomes for people, places, and the planet.
SmartViz’s Journey: Innovation in Action
Since our founding in 2022, SmartViz has been on a mission to help building owners and operators address the urgent challenges of building inefficiency. We deliver better outcomes for energy use, space optimisation, and environmental sustainability through our groundbreaking 'digital-twin-in-a-box' technology. Our suite of low-cost sensors, paired with an AI-powered digital twin, provides actionable insights on where energy and space are being wasted. These insights lead to tangible benefits, such as reduced carbon footprints, optimised operational efficiency, and enhanced user experience.
Some of the incredible outcomes for our clients include:
Cardiff Met University has saved £5.1 million annually by using our solution to optimise energy use and space allocation.
Vodafone has benefited from annual savings of $40 million through better space management and energy efficiency.
Local councils, such as Barnsley and Midlothian, are using our technology to optimise their public buildings, including schools, libraries, offices and cultural venues.
Our rapid growth demonstrates the urgent demand for smarter, more sustainable building management solutions, and being shortlisted for TechFest’s Innovation Accelerator award is a testament to the impact we're making.
Recognition in the Best Use of Technology Category
In addition to our nomination for the Innovation Accelerator award, SmartViz is also a finalist in the Best Use of Technology: Smart Data Collection for Asset Management category. This recognition is focused on our ability to collect and analyse vast amounts of data efficiently to provide critical insights that drive operational excellence. Our technology allows asset owners and operators to see, in real-time, where space and energy are being underutilised, providing them with the tools to act swiftly.
A prime example of this is our work with Cardiff Met University, where we deployed our occupancy analytics and air quality monitoring solution in a matter of days. With our 'peel and stick' IoT sensors, the university started streaming live data on energy efficiency, space usage, and air quality almost immediately. The results were remarkable - not only did they achieve significant energy savings, but they also gathered invaluable planning data that is now steering their future campus development.
Looking Ahead: The Future of SmartViz
At SmartViz, we’re constantly innovating and looking ahead. Our goal for the next 3–5 years is to expand our reach and continue providing transformative solutions for a wider array of industries, from education to commercial real estate, and from local councils to large corporations. As we grow, we’re dedicated to maintaining our agile approach, allowing us to respond swiftly to the evolving needs of our clients and the ever-changing landscape of the built environment.
We believe that data is the new oil, and just like oil, it needs to be processed and refined to deliver true value. With SmartViz, we're turning raw building data into actionable insights that can reduce carbon emissions, save operational costs, and create a more sustainable future.
Why These Nominations Matter
Being shortlisted for the Innovation Accelerator and Best Use of Technology awards at TechFest 2024 is a proud moment for our entire team. It validates the hard work and dedication we’ve put into revolutionising how buildings are managed and optimised. More importantly, it highlights the critical role that innovative technology plays in driving the construction and civil engineering sectors towards a more sustainable future.
These nominations recognise the impact we’ve already made, but they also reflect our vision for the future - one where technology and data help us create better, more efficient, and more sustainable spaces for people to work, learn, and live in.
